These individuals are responsible for insuring their passenger’s safety
KARACHI: A young woman recently posted a video on social media in which she explains how she was harassed by a driver of a private taxi service in Karachi. She, like most people these days, called herself a cab through her phone’s app. The man who picked her up asked her a lot of personal questions and fixed the rearview mirror of the car to look at her.
She eventually gained courage and screamed at him, and told him to stop the car so she could get out of it. But he refused. Instead, he started to speed up. Eventually, when she threatened to call the cops he dropped her off to her location but it wasn’t all that easy. He screamed at her and told her that she couldn’t dare do anything to him. The reason I am highlighting this issue is because it is important for us to be vigilant. We must be careful before we sit inside any taxi.
I would also like to appeal to the management of these taxi companies. They need to train all their drivers. These individuals are responsible for insuring their passenger’s safety. They shouldn’t be the ones making them feel unsafe.
