Water crisis in Karachi

Letter April 12, 2017
The municipal authorities should solve this issue, affecting millions of lives daily, at the earliest

KARACHI: With summer right round the corner and rising heat in Karachi, the water demand in the city of about 200,000 residents is failing to meet its supply. Karachi requires more than 1,000 million gallons per day but unfortunately the poor, inefficient system is only able to supply half or maybe a quarter.

Due to water shortage in the city, the tanker mafia is earning profits. From posh localities to the slums, the water crisis is affecting everyone in the metropolis. The municipal authorities should solve this issue, affecting millions of lives daily, at the earliest.
