The Bangladeshis wanted revenge against the West Indies after the latter thrashed them in a group match.
RAWALPINDI: Saleha Riaz’s article on the overwhelming support that the Bangladeshi crowd gave to the Pakistan team in the World Cup quarter-final match was very good. However, I think that this support may have been forthcoming because a) Pakistan was once united with present-day Bangladesh and is a South Asian country and b) the Bangladeshis wanted revenge against the West Indies after the latter thrashed them in a group match.
That said, the sight was very good to see. However, it’s a pity that the Pakistani captain as well as the man of the match did not say a word about the support from Bangladeshi fans and kept on thanking those who had come all the way from Pakistan.
