The SC’s decision by and large is welcomed wholeheartedly as it will ensure merit in the future
HYDERABAD: Over the last four years, the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) — the only recruitment body of civil servants — has skewed the rules. Whenever merit is cast aside, one should expect trouble.
The SC, which is accredited to delve into the matter, described the illegalities in the CCE 2013 exam and consequently held the chairman along with its five members responsible. Ultimately they had to tender their resignations and hence the results were declared nullified. Many absurdities were dug up: for instance, clerical errors were found in papers; candidates’ marks were concealed; during paper checking, roll numbers were not kept secret; marks were indivisible among interviewers’ panel, etc.
When one candidate who failed all CSS papers except one optional paper was counted among the top five candidates of the CCE examination.
The SC’s decision by and large is welcomed wholeheartedly as it will ensure merit in the future.
For efficacy of the commission and transparency, the SPSC needs to be run independently and by ending political influence; secondly, it must conduct re-exams at once and accelerate the recruitment process; thirdly, it has to line up with the other public service commissions.
