Violence on campus

Letter April 02, 2017
No serious measures have been taken to settle this problem

JAFFERABAD DISTRICT: Punjab University is facing a war-like situation nowadays. The recent clash among two groups of Punjab University (Pakhtun and Islami Jamiat-e-Talba) has exacerbated the situation. The students of Punjab University have become victims of distress. The Pakhtuns were attacked by the IJT students when they were celebrating their annual cultural event. Wielding sticks, the IJT students rampaged through the stalls and camps and assaulted the Pakhtun students. As a result, more than 20 male students and four girls were injured. The administration’s security officials failed to control the situation. This is not the first time that the IJT has attacked the PU students. Several times now the Baloch have borne the brunt of these violent attacks. The latest incident clearly shows negligence the Punjab University administration and the provincial authorities. No serious measures have been taken to settle this problem.
