Neutrality on Bahrain

Letter March 24, 2011
Pakistan has had a history of jumping into controversial situations.

ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to the editorial “Neutrality on Bahrain” (March 24), which points to the fact that we ought to adopt a neutral stance in the uprising, since it is increasingly becoming sectarian in nature. Pakistan has had a history of jumping into controversial situations and I would say the first that comes to my mind, is when it became America’s ally following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and allowed its territory to be used for training and sending fighters across the border.

Instead of sending people to Bahrain to work in their security forces, we should concentrate on internal issues and problems, of which we have many on our hands.
