The practice of observing strikes has continued for many weeks in the province of Sindh
ISLAMABAD: Prosecutors, deputy district attorneys and district attorneys are reported to have gone on strike. Sometimes, they go on strike for the whole day and sometimes, they go on a token strike to register their protest for the acceptance of their due demands. However, this practice of observing strikes has continued for many weeks in the province of Sindh. These officers of the court, who usually represent the state, appear to be children of a lesser god in our justice system.
I personally know many prosecutors from various parts of the upper and lower regions in the province who always travel in the same wagon in which an accused or alleged criminal has to travel and appear in court and against whom they have to give their arguments for the dispensation of justice. They feel insecure and vulnerable but even they discharge their duties diligently and devotedly.
Prosecutors, district attorneys and deputy district attorneys in Sindh are the lowest paid stakeholders of our justice system. Their part of the administration earns the least, not only in the country but also in the South Asian region. They are paid to be cynical but no one cares in this self-centred society where people in power and position only manage to build their own families. They let others go to hell in regard to whether they are timely promoted, upgraded, given raises in salary and given other legitimate rights or not. I cannot stop pointing fingers at the injustice within, with the hope that there will be someone in a position of power who would show mercy and do justice to with these ‘weak’ but also workaholic workers of the system, who, indeed, are supposed to be agents of the justice system in the country.
