The PSL winners

Letter March 07, 2017
The entire nation enjoyed the match

TURBAT: On March 5, the Pakistan Super League final was held in Lahore and after a long gap, international cricket was played in Pakistan, a tremendous achievement for the country and its people.

The entire nation enjoyed the match; however it was unjust for the Quetta Gladiators whose four international players among others refused to visit Pakistan for the final. These players were the main power house heroes of the team and were the reason that Quetta had successfully made it to the final. It was unfair that these players could not participate in the final and therefore it was unfair for the Gladiators since they lost their key players.

In the final, we saw four new overseas players included in the Quetta side who didn’t prove their mettle as such. Meanwhile the Peshawar side was playing with all of its original four overseas players and hence won the final. It was great that the final was held in Pakistan which is a positive sign for Pakistani cricket, but the PCB should have ensured that the overseas players were ready to visit Pakistan to play the final for both teams. If the final had been held in Dubai we would have seen all four players, resulting in the possibility of a different outcome as compared to the one seen in Lahore.

We consider Quetta Gladiators, the true gems of PSL two not because they lost their main players and were unsuccessful in the final but because the Gladiators were excellent overall and had a fair chance of winning if their foreign players had shown up.
