Hate 2.0

Letter March 06, 2017
The media and the other circles havelinked the shooting incident to the prevalent racial hatred in the United States

MUMBAI: The news that an Indian engineer was shot dead by a Navy veteran sent shockwaves not only across India but also across the world. There are various reasons being quoted for this sad incident. The media and the other circles have apparently linked the shooting incident to the prevalent racial hatred in the United States.

Today, professionals working in their own countries or being employed abroad are under a heavy workload. They have the natural tendency to seek protection for their well-being and emotional comfort. Already with this being the case, it is the responsibility of the corporate world to protect the employees in all possible manners to start with.

As for the US shooting incident in Kansas, the media should help know about the actual motive behind the killing of the Indian engineer. It is not right to directly blame the US administration for such hate culture. In general, Americans are kind, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. My company once exported consumable goods to Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Singapore and the Philippines. During this work, I had the great experience of interacting with many Americans who came to Tuticorin Port for their shipments. I observed that they were simple and handsomely inspiring.

Maybe there are bad elements rooted on the soil of the US, that are uncultured, volatile and uneducated. As a result, these elements can easily go on rampages. Hence, only such bad elements should be driven away from America for everyone’s welfare and safety. Interestingly, such sad incidents may happen anywhere in the world. If they occur in the US, they easily get full limelight. Given the various bigger issues, such as terrorism, drought, climate change, natural disasters and economic slump, the world today is in dire need of a society that is disciplined, inspiring and knowledgeable — in a nutshell.
