Revamping security measures

Letter March 01, 2017
The dreadful attack on innocent students of Army Public School and Bacha Khan University have not been forgotten

KARACHI: I would like to draw the attention of the Sindh Government towards the unsatisfactory security measures at some of the private schools in Karachi. The dreadful attack on innocent students of Army Public School in K-P and Bacha Khan University have not been forgotten. Being a mother, I would like to bring this to the knowledge of all that most of the schools located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar are performing their daily activities without the standard security SOP’s defined by the Government of Pakistan. We cannot see any of the armed guard, CCTV cameras, barbed wirings, etc, in these schools, but they are operating in full swing. As per my observation, I can witness a school (Gulshan-e-Iqbal) and some of the branches of another school are carrying the sub-standard security measures.

Keeping in view all above, I would like to request the authorities concerned to urgently look into the matter. I suggest them to deploy inspection teams who visit the schools to see whether they have necessary security arrangements and in absence of these penalise them.
