Every time a proposal for the building of the dam is passed, our political parties make it their point to oppose it.
BAHRIA UNIVERSITY, KARACHI: This is with reference to Syed Mohammad Ali’s article of March 13 titled “Can the US help solve our water woes?”. Most of Pakistan’s agriculture depends heavily on irrigation. The majority of the waters from our rivers feed into this irrigation system, which is among the largest in the world but not every efficient. Tarbela and Mangla have been reduced to nearly half of their storage capacities due to silting and we have not built any new dams. Every time a proposal for the building of the dam is passed, our political parties make it their point to oppose it.
