ISLAMABAD: Another devastating earthquake hit Japan on March 11. Despite this, destruction remained controlled because the government seemed prepared to cope with the hazard, thereby minimising the effects of the disaster. Japan proved that it is a very organised nation and can face any challenge. Pakistanis should learn from it.
The earthquake of October 2005 and the recent flood are evidence of destruction that Pakistan was not able to deal with. There is news another severe flood could hit Pakistan. Therefore, it is time to think on how its affects can be minimised and to develop sound strategies on the national as well as local level.
