The people and other pillars of civil society must add their voices to the crusade
JOHI: The absence of drinking water and consumption of polluted water is being treated as non-issue despite the photos of people and animals drinking from the same pools, with the presence of arsenic and fluoride areas as well as the mixing up of drinking water and sewerage pipelines in urban water supply systems. It is found that main water sources that supply to main cities and rural parts are being inundated with huge pipelines releasing untreated industrial and sewerage water. The common people have become used to it, as have the bureaucratic quarters concerned and elected representatives. The callousness and empathy by power holders and the impotency of traditional tools of highlighting the issue has compelled the conscience of some to pursue the matter in court.
We can no longer tolerate that such findings and reports are simply discarded by quarters concerned as they do not drink this water. The people and other pillars of civil society must add their voices to the crusade and press the authorities to pay heed to recommendations.
