We need to ask ourselves

Letter March 13, 2011
Many Muslims are complaining at what they see as unfair stereotyping and profiling in the US.

KARACHI: The holding of hearings in America by a Republican member of Congress to examine the role of Muslims in terrorism is a stark reminder of the negative perception that Islam has in the world’s most powerful country. While many Muslims are complaining at what they see as unfair stereotyping and profiling, perhaps they need to put themselves in the shoes of Americans who believe, and perhaps rightly so, that the majority of terrorist attacks against Americans and American interests are masterminded by people who, by their own admission, profess the Islamic faith. We Muslims need to ask ourselves why this is the case and what we can do to dispel this impression.
