With increased travel in those areas of late, these considerations must be made
GUJRANWALA: The recent snowfall in Chitral has intensified the hardships of its people. Reportedly, around 15 people have died as a result of avalanches and landslides. Lawari Top is completely blocked due to snowfall and Lawari Tunnel is opened only twice a week for general traffic. In such conditions, the only means of travel is by air. Unfortunately, PIA flights both from Peshawar and Islamabad are often cancelled for various reasons. The mismanagement in PIA is the one of the prime reasons for this issue. Keeping in view the difficulties of the people of Chitral, it is requested to the authorities concerned that daily C130 flights be started from Peshawar and Islamabad, at least during the winter season when road communication and access are blocked. With increased travel in those areas of late, these considerations must be made.
