It is a commendable gesture by the FIH to conduct a motivational ceremony
TURBAT: The upcoming Hockey Stars Awards 2016 will be held in India on February 23 but it is painful to mention that no Pakistani player has qualified to be nominated. A recent report claimed that this is the first time in the sport’s history that an awards ceremony will take place to honour the best players, goalkeepers, rising stars, coaches and umpires of the game by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). It is a commendable gesture by the FIH to conduct a motivational ceremony to encourage those who have performed well for their nations and countries. At the same time, it is a clear fact that even though hockey is our national game, the authorities concerned have seemingly lost interest in the game and it is hoped that our players will perform better in the future so that they can be a part of such ceremonies.
