Unethical remarks were thus followed by a noble gesture in the Sindh Assembly
MITHI: Unethical remarks were thus followed by a noble gesture in the Sindh Assembly when Works and Services Minister Imdad Pitafi approached Sehar Abbasi for an apology by covering her head with a shawl and calling her his sister as per Sindhi custom. Sehar Abbasi then, acting nobler, accepted his apology and forgave him. But the question is why those from the treasury benches who so profoundly acknowledged and, to some extent, evoked Imdad Pitafi’s remarks were neither questioned nor condemned. Strangely enough, not even by either Sehar Abbasi herself or her party.
Seemingly, Sehar Abbasi settled for less and to her involuntary negligence, an opportunity was missed to eradicate the trend of passing such immoral remarks by demanding the apology of every person who acclaimed and cheered, and thus endorsed Imdad Pitafi’s unsavoury remarks in the Sindh Assembly in the form of hooting. The specific mindset which has already been, undoubtedly, severely diminished and dented with Imdad Pitafi’s apology could have been wiped out once and for all by holding each of his co-culprits accountable.
