Bilawal campaigning

Letter January 25, 2017
It is a good step by the PPP to protect the remains of their fame and popularity

HYDERABAD: The young Chairman of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto, was recently on the streets rallying with the masses to revive the arrears of their popularity and vote bank. The route chosen for the rally from Lahore to Faisalabad consisted of the districts that are the Sharifs’ area of development. Perhaps, it may be their own negligence and ignorance because of which most of their incumbent MPAs and MNAs left the party with deep grief during the PPP tenure. The biggest mistake of the PPP was to leave the free ground for the PTI to play around. In the meantime, the PTI successfully grabbed the vote bank of disappointed citizens. Still, the ruling elite is far stronger than their opponents. A setback in the rank and file of the ruling elite can be made possible by a strong opposition alliance by the opponent parties.

Now, the question arises whether the young chairman be successful in warming up the blood of the youth. The nation has become wiser and less emotional. They demand something in return for their vote. The era of mere sloganeering, catcalling and castigating opponents has been done away with and has become old chapters of history. Overall, it is a good step by the PPP to protect the remains of their fame and popularity. Let time judge the results.
