Trump’s odd views on the conduct of US foreign policy are a major cause of concern
HYDERABAD: The most controversial president ever in history is going to hold the reins of the most powerful house. The whole world, including the United States itself, is feeling the heat. Hundreds and thousands of women and men protested on the day of Donald Trump’s oath taking ceremony, which is not an auspicious beginning for a man occupying the world’s most powerful position. Even in US intelligence, which he castigated in his speeches, there are talks about restraining him before his complete installation.
Trump’s odd views on the conduct of US foreign policy are a major cause of concern. Trump has declared to appoint his son-in-law Jared Kushner to broker a Middle East peace deal, which has caused great anxiety not only in Palestine but also for America’s allies.
Donald Trump declared to review the foreign policy on Iran. On the other hand, President Barack Obama urged to continue the implementation of the deal as it goes on. President Obama further said the deal was a work of several years by several countries and suggested to impose more sanctions to limit production of nuclear weapons. Contrarily, Iran has warned that if the US imposes any unconditional sanctions, it will go out of the deal. Iran is prone to being as it was.
Furthermore, Trump’s Administration is likely to increase the number of soldiers engaged in fighting insurgents in Afghanistan. Undoubtedly, US foreign policy on Afghanistan will indirectly affect Pakistan. Above all, comes the foreign policy on Pakistan. According to a prominent Pakistani Trump supporter Sajid Tarar, Trump has no plans to unfriend Pakistan but it will have even closer relations with India than in Obama’s administration.
Ostensibly, the overall scenario does not seem to be in favour of Pakistan. Pakistan, which has suffered a lot only due to US foreign policies, will have to develop new vistas of foreign policy towards the US in order to maintain durable and long lasting peace.
