Why do people in important and high positions tell us facts that we already know?
ISLAMABAD: In a report in your newspaper dated March 6, a senior official of the Planning Commission has been quoted as giving several recommendations on how to improve the presently moribund state of the economy. He spoke of ending government subsidies, and monetary and fiscal policies and other related matters. Many of these issues are relevant and his suggestions seemed sound, but the point is that isn’t the official, being part of the Planning Commission, in a position to do something about all of this? As far as I know, he has worked with IMF in the past as well, so what has he brought to his Planning Commission position which could help steer the economy to a safe state? Why do people in important and high positions tell us facts that we already know? We, ordinary citizens, cannot change things, but they can. It is high time those in positions of decision-making stop talking and do something.
