Shortage of playgrounds

Letter January 07, 2017
I request and hope that the administration of Rawalpindi take action to provide more facilities to children

RAWALPINDI: I want to draw the attention of the department concerned to a very important issue in Rawalpindi: the lack of grounds for sports play. The population of Rawalpindi is 1.4 million and increasing rapidly. The city is expanding but without any development. Schoolgrounds have been converted into clubs and this restricts children from playing on them. These clubs charge heavy amounts to people who want to play matches on the ground and only district teams are allowed to play on them, leaving youngsters with no place for their physical activities. Thus, children tend to squander their free time by standing in the streets and exploring harmful activities.

In the absence of playgrounds and sportsgrounds, the youth suffer from being unable to partake in healthy activities. I request and hope that the administration of Rawalpindi take action to provide more facilities to children.
