I don’t think the army is evil and I’m always moved to admiration by the sacrifices the jawans.
KARACHI: This is with reference to Sami Shah’s article of March 4 titled “Long and short of it”. Just because one doesn’t agree with the policies of the military and wants the army to reduce spending doesn’t mean that one hates the army. I don’t think the army is evil and I’m always moved to admiration by the sacrifices the jawans and young officers are making in the current wars in the northwest.
But it is exactly my admiration for these brave men which leads me to believe that continuing with the bankrupt security policies makes little sense.
It is precisely my desire to not see them lose life and limb for no good reason which leads me to call on the military top brass to rethink their policies. Those who claim to ‘love’ the military and then support policies which have seen the deaths and injuries of thousands of Pakistani soldiers should take a minute to think about their priorities.
