Murder of a minister

Letter March 04, 2011
We are on our way to becoming a full-fledged theocracy like Iran.

MELBOURNE: This is with reference to Zafar Hilaly’s article of March 4 titled “Murder of a minister”. Pakistan today is as relevant for world peace as Hosni Mubarak to present-day Egypt. We have failed our majorities and the minorities that we have a duty to protect.

We are on our way to becoming a full-fledged theocracy like Iran. The only difference will be that Iranian clergy is 10 times more reasonable than the Taliban and doesn’t go around murdering its own populace, plus the fact that Iran earns billions through oil export and has a smaller population to look after. We have a population of 180 million divided along ethnic and sectarian lines and we don’t have petro dollars.

When we become a theocracy, we will implode and will become a nightmare for the entire world.
