Gilgit achievements

Letter December 15, 2016
The roads of GB have finally been carpeted and a lot of positive progress has been made

GILGIT: Once upon a time, the city of Gilgit was victim of pollution due to the negligence by the authorities concerned. However, the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has taken several admirable steps to make Gilgit a garbage-free city. The GB government has also orchestrated solid waste management project for the first time in the history of GB, as well as upgrading the municipal committee as the municipal corporation. This step was helpful in opening new opportunities to unemployed persons as well as increasing the efficiency of the department. Now, sanitary workers of this project reach early in the morning to residents’ doorsteps to collect their garbage and dispose it off.

Similarly, the ‘metalling’ of roads has been achieved through the valuable efforts of the GB government, which is beneficial for transporters as well as common citizens. The roads of GB have finally been carpeted and a lot of positive progress has been made.
