KARACHI: I can understand that petrol dealers have some issues with the government on their profit margin but surely the way to sort this out is not to resort to an unannounced strike which deprives motorists and motorcyclists, in a city of 18 million, of petrol for a whole day. The role of the ministry of petroleum also needs to be questioned since it should have informed the city’s resident of this impending strike.
The way that petroleum dealers have done this, a day before the price of petrol was expected to go up, was also correct and gives the impression that they want to profiteer at the expense of consumers.
