Accountability and the Supreme Court

Letter November 27, 2016
I plead to the Supreme Court a thousand times not to disappoint the nation

TURBAT: The Supreme Court should not dissatisfy the public with respect to pushing the government for not maintaining accountability. Otherwise, no one will follow any laws nor respect successive governments in the country. This means the probability of a civil war gets multiplied.

The Panama leaks is not a political case; rather, it is an issue of national security and survival for the country. The ruler of our country is burdening the country with cruel taxes. The owner of 18 mills is paying the same amount in taxes as an ordinary labourer or a small employee is paying. If a person does not pay his taxes, he should be held accountable, whether he or she is in the government or the opposition. These individuals are like dirty fish in a tanker that pollute the complete tank. According to an international survey, around five million people were taxable but only 1.2 million people paid taxes regularly. This is because people believe that if their leaders do not pay complete taxes, they need not pay, either. Trust in our leaders and in the taxation department vanishes in their eyes. The entire taxation system is flawed and must be reconstructed.

I plead to the Supreme Court a thousand times not to disappoint the nation, for if the masses get disappointed again, the country may plunge into anarchy and civil war.
