Canada’s plan B

Letter November 15, 2016
The honourable people are showing courage during this time of difficulty

TORONTO: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should rise to the task and take appropriate measures to answer the call of desperate people who might try to flee the United States from US President-elect Donald Trump’s persecution.

Mr Trudeau should not show any weakness to the bully and abandon these desperate people during their time of crisis, where their lives are at stake. Members of various minority groups have already been attacked. Mr Trudeau and Mr Trump should put politics aside as the situation involves life and death.

When lives are on the line, one must jump in to rescue the people and put everything else aside. Canada, under the leadership of Prime Minister Trudeau, can make history by rising to the challenge and show who we really are and what we stand for.

We should not worry whether Mr Trump will be pleased with us or not. If he starts to turn the lives of minorities into a living nightmare, we should do everything possible — aside from politics — to stand up with dignity and alleviate the American people’s suffering by any means necessary, even if it involves opening our doors to them.

The honourable people are showing courage during this time of difficulty. This is a golden opportunity for Mr Trudeau to act honourably by putting a plan B into place, in case Mr Trump turns against the weak and those who can’t defend themselves.
