Outdated government websites

Letter November 07, 2016
I request Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to advise his team to make the social media profile of the government active

KARACHI: Recently, an advertisement by the Government of Sindh was published in leading newspapers of Pakistan and left me wondering why our government is not using modern day communication services like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Line and Skype. In the advertisement, it was good to that see a WhatsApp number, email address and landline number were provided. Although Facebook and Twitter profiles were also mentioned, it was sad to see, upon browsing, that its Facebook page, Twitter profile and WhatsApp had not properly maintained. Many things are missing from its Facebook page and the government’s Twitter profile is inactive. At the time of writing this letter, the WhatsApp number showed “Last Seen on October 22, 2:11 pm.” It’s a waste of public money to show this type of advertisement if the communication methods provided are not updated.

At the bottom of the advertisement, Chairman Enquiries and Anti-Corruption Establishment Ghulam Qadir Thebo and Advisor to Chief Minister, Sindh for Law and Anti-Corruption Establishment, Sindh Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui were mentioned. This means both men are responsible for this advertisement. I request Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to look into this and advise his team to make the social media profile of the government active, just like Bilawal’s own Twitter profile.
