Mumtaz Qadri’s case is before the courts and hence I would not like to make any comment on him.
LAHORE: This is with reference to Salman Ali Shoaib’s article of February 22 titled “Be my ‘violent-tine’”. The writer has put the finger on the button when he says that young people in this country have no healthy role models whom they could admire or emulate. Mumtaz Qadri’s case is before the courts and hence I would not like to make any comment on him. However, the affection with which he was treated by many young people who sent him Valentine’s cards and gifts is nauseating, to say the least.
What a tragic state we have in this country — healthy expression of love is frowned upon and considered against religion while public expression of love and approval for an individual who, by his own confession, shot a man in cold blood is encouraged.
