Once again, around 50,000 ghost employees have been found in various government departments of Balochistan
TURBAT: Once again, around 50,000 ghost employees have been found in various government departments of Balochistan, who have been absent from their duties for a long time. Most of the ghost employees have been reported in the sector of education and the health department. A large number of people received appointment orders illegally in previous years with the support of education and treasury officers. The incumbent government claims to have given priority to the education sector with an allocation of Rs40 billion for the salaries of teachers and their development. Most of this budget goes into the salaries of just teachers and the Balochistan Education Department, however, they are ghost employees and engage in absenteeism.
The previous chief minister of Balochistan launched the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) into an inquiry about the appointments and educational certificates of teachers in August 2015. They terminated the services of over 400 government school teachers who had been absent from their duties. The NAB began an investigation against senior officials of the Education Department who were allegedly involved in the appointment of such teachers.
Now, considering that ghost employees still exist, it clearly points out that the government and heads of departments failed to trace out people who were involved in illegal work and in destroying the entire province of Balochistan. It is my humble request to the Government of Balochistan and the education officers to be serious about this major issue. Education has to be saved in Balochistan and applying the budget where it is actually needed is the first step.
