Most men in Pakistan, try and restrict women from venturing out of their homes.
KARACHI: This is with reference to your report of February 19 titled “War against rape losing too many battles”. As long as a society views women primarily as sex objects and cannot perceive them in positions of authority or influence, atrocities against them will keep happening. This is not the case in western societies where, by and large, men tend to see women as being capable of working as engineers, scientists, surgeons etc and not simply as sex objects. They also do not, unlike most men in Pakistan, try and restrict women from venturing out of their homes. In Pakistan, however, some men may want to marry a doctor but even they will often stop her from working.
