KARACHI: This is with reference to your report of February 19 titled “Faisalabad celebrates Basant despite ban”. It is good that the city has chosen to celebrate this festival full of colours, kites and music because it is a good avenue for healthy entertainment and is, in fact, good for the local economy. The mullahs have been campaigning to get it banned for years and have succeeded as far as Lahore goes, but I am happy to see that the people of Faisalabad have decided to enjoy themselves.
I can only hope that the Punjab government will realise its folly and allow the people of other cities and towns to also celebrate this festival.
