DUBAI: This is with reference to Miranda Husain’s article of February 19 titled “D is for drones”.
As far back as the 1950s, Pakistani facilities were being used by the Americans — at that time, it was for planes which were used to spy on the Soviets. Then in the 1970s and 1980s, we offered them assistance in their fight against the Soviets in Afghanistan. The fact of the matter is that we have put ourselves on sale many times in the past. Also, people should realise that Pakistan is in a state of war and warring states do form alliances against their ‘enemies’.
