Peace between India and Pakistan

Letter February 19, 2011
Wonders why there can be no durable peace between the two neighbours.

ISLAMABAD: Shahzad Chaudhry’s article of February 16 titled “For peace between India and Pakistan” rightly suggests that if India wishes for the backchannel to revive, Pakistan must concur. Here, I would quote a pertinent paragraph from LK Advani’s autobiography My country – My Life, where he writes that Pakistan and India have seen three wars, the Shimla Pact, the Lahore Declaration of 1999, Kargil and the failed Agra Summit and wonders why there can be no durable peace between the two neighbours.
