Some training sessions should be held for lawyers in the judicial academy
LAHORE: The judiciary of a country plays an imperative role in the country’s development through the dispensation of justice. Lawyers, as an offshoot of the judiciary, play a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of a judiciary. If lawyers do not comply with the judicial ethics, then it is difficult for judicial institutions to complete their constitutional duties. Such is the case in Pakistan. Lawyers are not following judicial ethics because of which the judiciary is being hindered in its proper functioning. It has also been observed that lawyers have become very aggressive not just on court premises but outside as well. Whether it is the police, traffic wardens or anyone else, everyone is afraid of getting entangled with lawyers because they know that if they have a falling out with them, they will file fake and frivolous cases against them and nobody wants to face the courts here.
For this type of corruption, some training sessions should be held for lawyers in the judicial academy as well as in district bars. Some senior lawyers have been doing this in their personal capacity to properly train newcomers in judicial ethics. All other senior lawyers are also requested to do the same with newcomers and motivate them to follow legal ethics so that our judicial set-up can work properly and smoothly and the dispensation of justice may be actualised.
