It is highly discriminatory that such horrific incidents occurring in war-torn zones go unnoticed
LAHORE: This is apropos the news story headline “A police action shrouded in mystery” (September 17). The story covered the entire episode of the arrest of MQM lawmaker Khawaja Izharul Hassan. Earlier, a mosque was hit by a terrorist attack during the Friday prayer in Mohmand Agency. It is yet to be ascertained that whether skin is to be saved by declaring it to be sponsored by a foreign power but the most tragic was the lack of coverage this horrendous incident met with. They were so frenzied by the MPA’s arrest that they overlooked the loss of 28 precious lives in a gruesome incident.
This is highly discriminating and condemnable as no one among the pseudo-intellectuals who relentlessly bash people from all walks of life thought it necessary to share the grief of those living in war-torn areas and have given innumerable sacrifices. We need to pay attention to the alienated people living in terror-stricken areas. Confidence-building measures need to be taken to alleviate their sufferings and to bring them into the national sphere. It is highly discriminatory that such horrific incidents occurring in war-torn zones go unnoticed whereas in big cities, even a stupidity done by anyone can have the potential of being ‘breaking news’.
