With millions of people out of work, Pakistan is a natural marketplace for the appearance of new testing services
QUETTA: Of late, Pakistan has witnessed the proliferation of new testing services under various names. This has exacerbated the problems of the already poor, jobless youth. After the National Testing Service, we now have the Pakistan Testing Service, Balochistan Testing Service, and Universal Testing Service, to name a few. They charge unreasonably exorbitant fees and give little or no hope of transparency and impartiality.
The main driver behind the multiplication of such organisations seems only to be mercenary. With millions of people out of work, Pakistan is a natural marketplace for the appearance of new testing services. With the education department in a deep slumber, these organisations continue to fleece hopeful students.
The growth of such testing services is a serious cause for concern. The state needs to implement checks and balances. It is the state’s duty to provide relief to the jobless. The government should come up with its own testing service under the aegis of the Higher Education Commission. If it cannot provide financial assistance to the unemployed, it, at least, can afford to finance their recruitment tests for various government jobs. If realised forthwith, it would come as a great relief to the jobless and take some burden off their shoulders.
