Water tanker mafia

Letter August 25, 2016
The major reason behind the water crisis is the water tanker mafia

KARACHI: We continuously complain about problems related to security, electricity, water, and so much more in Pakistan. What is the result of this continuous complaining though? What if, for once, we stop complaining and look into the root cause of the problem and then find a solution? Then, instead of only complaining over and over again, we should also implement the solution we find so that the authorities actually responsible can take notice and learn.

Currently, one of the major crises Pakistan is facing is shortage of water. Let’s analyse the problem: where did the issue begin? The major reason behind the water crisis is the water tanker mafia. These water tankers are filled from pipelines which supply direct water into our houses. However, as this supply is used to fill the tankers, water does not make it into our homes. Later on, water tanker owners sell us our own water, at very high prices. So, now, the government should check and control the activities of this fast growing mafia in Pakistan.
