Why can’t the Rangers operate in the whole province of Sindh and why only Karachi?
ISLAMABAD: Mr Hashim Abro is very right in his letter, published on August 15, when he says rulers adore and elevate the corrupt. We, as simple Pakistanis, had a lot of hope in the PPP’s rule after a long stint by a military dictator. Unfortunately, nothing good came out of that. With the win of the PML-N, we simpletons were again hopeful that the three-term prime minister would do wonders — having learnt his lesson after being ousted — but nothing good has come in these three years. The PTI was the last political hope, but also in their case, the party is almost finished. They could have performed much better in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The army, in its own sphere, is doing a commendable job. However, will the chief succeed if civilian entities, such as the judiciary, the executive branch, and the police, do not support the army? Why is the drama of the Rangers enacted after every few months? Why can’t the Rangers operate in the whole province of Sindh and why only Karachi? Why can’t they operate in Punjab? Is Punjab a sacred cow? I appeal to all Pakistanis to follow the rule of law and ensure that our rulers and elite follow the same.
