As long as we don’t stop believing that underage marriages are acceptable, such incidents will continue to happen.
KARACHI: This is with reference to your report of February 9 titled “Six-year-old escapes sexual assault”. As long as our people don’t stop believing that underage marriages are acceptable, such incidents will continue to happen. The problem is that many in our society think that as soon as a girl reaches puberty, she is eligible for marriage. And that’s why we have so many instances where young girls are married off.
