The motorcycle menace in Turbat

Letter August 12, 2016
In Turbat, I informally estimate that over 40 per cent of motorcyclists are children

TURBAT: I recently witnessed a terrible accident between two motorcycles while commuting to my university. The riders of the two motorcycles were young children, around 12 years of age. They were riding fast and recklessly. They were injured and then hospitalised. In Turbat, I informally estimate that over 40 per cent of motorcyclists are children and that’s why about 70 per cent of accidents occur in Turbat — owing to these young riders and their obstinacy. It is the parents’ who are responsible for providing minors with motorbikes endangering the lives of their own children on Turbat’s terrible roads. I urge the chief minister of Balochistan to ensure that the Turbat traffic police fine parents for allowing their children to ride on motorbikes.
