American presidential race

Letter August 07, 2016
It seems the showdown is now between ‘Arrogant America’ and a ‘united’ United States of America

ALIGARH, INDIA: Recent words from Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention gave me an adrenaline rush; the words from President Barack Obama made me nostalgic and the words of Khizr Khan made me emotional. On the other hand, the remarks by Donald Trump annoyed me not as a Muslim, or an American, but as a regular Indian citizen. He said he wanted to make America great while Hillary said she wanted to make the United States of America stronger. Mr Trump, “great” is hubris while “stronger” is humble. It seems the showdown is now between ‘Arrogant America’ and a ‘united’ United States of America.
