Land of hypocrites

Letter February 07, 2011
Thousands protest against changing the blasphemy law but does anyone protest against honour killing of women?

RAWALPINDI: We live in a land of hypocrites. Thousands protest against even the slightest proposed change to the blasphemy law and thousands rally in favour of Mumtaz Qadri, but does anyone protest against honour killing of women? Did anyone protest against the rape of a 14-year-old girl in Sheikhupura who was then buried in the ground — half her body was in and the remaining half from the limbs and up was outside? What kind of revolution are we going on about? We talk about Egypt and Tunisia but I am sure they don’t kill and rape teenagers and then bury them alive in the ground.
