Neglected Nasirabad

Letter July 26, 2016
Turbat and Nasirabad and the broken roads in between, patients usually die on the way

KECH: In this day and age when people have reached the moon, the residents of the Nasirabad District in Kech are deprived of basic facilities. The destructive flood of June 2007 badly harmed the district and people are still suffering from its aftermath nine years later. We are granted only one hour of electricity at night, that too at low voltage — barely enough to operate a fan. Besides that, the lack of educational facilities is a grave issue. The girls’ school lacks walls, classrooms, clean drinking water and bathrooms. It also lacks teachers. No education officers have visited the school to check on its problems. Hospitals are in similar pathetic condition where doctors and drugs are unavailable. Often, patients are taken to the main city of Turbat for treatment. Owing to the distance between Turbat and Nasirabad and the broken roads in between, patients usually die on the way. Nasirabad has always been neglected by our government. I appeal the chief minister of Balochistan to pay heed to the problems of Nasirabad and facilitate people by providing them with basic facilities such as schools, hospitals and electricity.
