A note of appreciation

Letter July 09, 2016
Malala is one individual who has brought laurels to Pakistan and we, as a nation, should be proud of her

ISLAMABAD: I appreciate the article “Malala pays her taxes,” by Chris Cork (July 9). It is an aptly structured article with a little sarcasm notwithstanding. It is unfortunate that not only the extremists but also some of the educated, enlightened persons doubt that Malala was a target of the Taliban. Some go on to assume that her shooting was self-arranged. This leaves me appalled.

It is quite evident that the shooter in his haste or inexperience, was unable to shoot properly. Or rather, she was destined to survive. She deserved all the recognition and love that she has received the world over. A Nobel Prize is no small achievement. Some people even doubt her ability to transcribe the stories that were broadcast from BBC. But the manner in which she addressed the UN is clearly a proof of her unusual ability and confidence. She is one individual who has brought laurels to Pakistan and we, as a nation, should be proud of her. I am.
