Parents must not send their children to institutions where their children’s innocence is at stake
HYDERABAD: “Pakistan, zindabad. Pakistan, zindabad!” chanted the students. The chants made me smile and the voices of the little ones made me happy as I passed by a madrassa. The very smile, however, was soon replaced by a frown and my happiness vanished by what I heard next. “Hindustan, murdabad, Hindustan, murdabad!” The enthusiasm with which the latter phrase was chanted surpassed the enthusiasm of the former and the enthusiasm of the teacher overtook the skillfully manufactured enthusiasm of the students.
So, the seeds of hate in the fertile land of the hearts of young children are thus sown and this is how their minds are trained to become rigid at such a young age. Innocence is the essence of children. It is both a vital and weak part of their personality. Innocence itself is too innocent to speculate the wrong intentions of its exploiter. It is, indeed, a tender area and, as they rightly say, tender areas need delicate handling. Knowing that, parents must not send their children to institutions where their children’s innocence is at stake. Institutions must be well-scrutinised by parents and guardians — be it a madrassa or a school.
