Pakistan still remains one of the biggest victims of terrorism
FAISALABAD: The recent killings of 20 hostages in a restaurant packed with foreigners in Dhaka are being strongly condemned by the whole world. The Indian media is already suggesting the involvement of Pakistan behind these attacks with baseless allegations. The Foreign Office of Pakistan has rejected the allegations and condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It has emerged that Bangladeshi rich kids who grew up to be indoctrinated by a violent ideology are responsible for this deadly carnage. Out of the six militants shot dead, five are graduates of Bangladesh’s leading private university, an 18-year-old student at an elite school and son of a ruling party official. By blaming Pakistan, the Indian media is damaging its own credibility.
For many years, Bangladesh under the leadership of Shaikh Hasina Wajed has become a colony of India. She went overboard to please India in order to get all the support to crush the opposition against her rule. She virtually transformed Bangladesh governance to a one-party system. This attack by well-educated Bangladeshis, belonging to wealthy families seems to be a reaction against that, especially to that of the hanging of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders without meeting a due judicial process. There is little doubt the Bangladeshi government will once again try to hold the opposition responsible for this carnage.
The expansion of terrorism has been witnessed everywhere in the world from Dhaka to Baghdad, Saudia Arabia to Syria and Europe to America. Pakistan still remains one of the biggest victims of terrorism. We cannot eradicate it by playing blame games with neighbouring countries. There is a dire need for international cooperation to combat the menace of terrorism.
