Sharing happiness

Letter July 05, 2016
We must think about the underprivileged and help them in any way we can

HYDERABAD: Buying new clothes, footwear and beauty products is a popular activity on Eid, especially in Pakistan. We see people spending their hard-earned money after a month of fasting.

However, have we understood the true meaning of Eidul Fitr? No, we have not. Because celebrating Eid alone and by not being considerate towards people who are less fortunate is not the true essence of this holy festival. We see countless people every day in our country who do not have a roof over their heads, who can’t afford two meals a day, nor education or decent healthcare. To them, Eid is just another day of the year. They too have desires to possess materials and their children also ask them for new clothes and shoes, but they have nothing that could help fulfil their wishes. We must think about the underprivileged and help them in any way we can.
