How can you consider Iran to be a model? It is a cruel, repressive and theocratic police state.
CHANTILLY, VA, US: This refers to your editorial of February 1 titled “How many revolutions?”. How can you consider Iran to be a model? The last election drew thousands out onto the streets in protest. The security forces working under its mullahs are as bad, or worse, compared to the Shah’s dreaded secret service, Savak.
The economy is a disaster. Inflation is rampant and there is much official corruption. There is no press freedom and no democratic institutions. They have an assembly that is powerless since all decisions are taken by the Supreme Leader. Iran is a cruel, repressive and theocratic police state.
