Voice of love silenced (II)

Qari Saifullah Mehsud, a spokesman for the TTP Hakimullah Mehsud group, claimed the responsibility for the attack

RAWALPINDI: The recent targeted killing of one of the country’s best known Sufi musicians, Amjad Sabri, in Karachi has left many individuals teary-eyed. According to initial reports, Sabri was travelling by car from his home to a television studio for a Ramazan programme, when a motorcycle pulled up alongside the vehicle and two attackers opened fire. Sabri expired on the way to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, while his relative, who was also travelling in the car, was injured.

Qari Saifullah Mehsud, a spokesman for the TTP Hakimullah Mehsud group, claimed the responsibility for the attack. How can these self-proclaimed champions of Islam describe themselves as Muslim? How can they kill in this holy month of Ramazan? May his soul rest in peace and may God grant his family patience and fortitude to face this irreparable loss. It is time that we stood together and fought the menace of terrorism and extremism. Collective effort and support is required from every segment of society for the eradication and elimination of terrorism.
